Let’s Get Started

Welcome to the brand new online home of Fox and Kit: Birth Journeys! I’m Hanna, and alongside launching this new website, I’m thrilled to introduce this blog – a dedicated space for connection, information, and support as you navigate your unique path through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
Fox and Kit has been born from a deep passion for informed choice, comprehensive education, and upholding the birth rights of every birthing person here in the UK. My journey in maternity services spans about fifteen years, working in various hospital settings before training as a Midwife in 2013 and qualifying in 2017. I’ve worked as a midwife ever since, and this year (2025), I decided to fully embrace my passion for education and informed care by creating this business.

My time within the NHS has been amazing, and I genuinely believe it’s filled with dedicated individuals striving to do their best, often without the ideal resources or governmental support. Fox and Kit aims to complement the care you receive, offering dedicated time and space to explore your options, understand your rights, and build your confidence.
Currently, I work as an Antenatal Educator and continue to practice as a Midwife. I’m also furthering my skills by training as an antenatal and postnatal doula, a breastfeeding counsellor, and a hypnobirthing teacher – all with the goal of providing holistic support through the crucial first 1001 days (from conception to age two).
My core mission? I want people to feel truly informed. I want you to know your rights within the maternity system. Crucially, I want to support those who may feel marginalized due to systemic issues or unconscious bias, providing tools to advocate for yourselves and feel more in control of your pregnancy and birth experiences.

Fox and Kit is based in the lovely city of Ely, Cambridgeshire. While perhaps best known for its magnificent cathedral, beautiful landscapes, and rich history rather than widespread ethnic diversity (though specific Ely data is limited, the wider Cambridgeshire area does show diversity, and we have a thriving LGBTQIA* community with a Pride festival growing stronger each year!), it’s a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I believe strongly in the power of community, and I hope Fox and Kit can be a part of your supportive village, whether you’re local or connecting from further afield.
So, why this blog?
Think of it as an extension of the support Fox and Kit offers. It’s a place where I can share news and updates relevant to your journey, delve into important discussion points, offer practical tips and wisdom gleaned from experience, and generally keep you informed and empowered. This space is for expectant parents, new parents, birth partners, and anyone seeking knowledge, community, and support during this transformative time.

What can you expect?
While I have a list of topics I’m eager to explore (think navigating your rights, understanding different birth options, preparing for postpartum, feeding choices, demystifying hospital jargon, and much more!), I want this blog to be interactive and responsive to your needs. Expect posts [mention your intended frequency here – e.g., “every couple of weeks,” “monthly”] written in a style that is supportive, informative, and hopefully, empowering.
And speaking of interaction – this is where you come in! As this is the very first post, I’d love to hear from YOU.
What topics are burning questions for you right now?
What challenges are you facing in your pregnancy or parenting journey?
Let me know in the comments below – chances are, if you’re wondering about it, someone else is too!
Please subscribe to the blog to be kept up to date! I’m also planning to release a podcast in the future, so subscribe to be the first to know when it goes live.
You can also follow Fox and Kit on Facebook , Instagram , and @foxandkitbirth.bsky.social for insights, updates, and a peek behind the scenes.
And of course, while this blog, the podcast, and social media are wonderful ways to connect and share information, the deep-dive learning and personalised support happen in my classes. Please explore the website to see the options available.
I’m truly looking forward to connecting with you and supporting your family’s journey.
Peace and love
Hanna
